Festival of Lights …Diwali!!!!

Hello everyone. Hope you guys having great week start. First of all happy Halloween and happy Diwali who celebrates these festivals’. I had been quite busy preparing and celebrating for Diwali this weekend. For those who aren’t aware of Diwali, Diwali ( Tihar in nepali, the Hindu festival of lights, is the most popular of all the festivals from South Asia.

It is also the occasion for celebrations by Hindus as well as Jains and Sikhs. The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word deepavali, meaning “rows of lighted lamps”. Hindus celebrate the return of deities Rama and Sita to Ayodhya after their 14-year exile. They also celebrate the day Mother Goddess Durga destroyed a demon called Mahisha. On this occasion, Houses, shops and public places are decorated with small oil lamps called diyas, worshiping goddess of wealth laxmi and ganesh for prosperous life wealth and health . All the simple rituals of Diwali have a significance and a story to tell. The illumination of homes with lights and the skies with firecrackers is an expression of obeisance to the heavens for the attainment of health, wealth, knowledge, peace and prosperity. According to one belief, the sound of fire-crackers are an indication of the joy of the people living on earth, making the gods aware of their plentiful state.

People enjoy making varieties of sweets, , and making colorful rangoli (sandcolor art ). Diwali had always been my favorite festival in all hindu festivals . Everyyear I get excited about it . I am sharing here with you guys some Diwali pics . Hope you guys like it .
